I saved my SHSH blobs through cydia when jailbreaked under 4.0. Now I fear that my blobs were never saved as I cannot restore through itunes.

I upgraded to 4.0.1 since I knew I could jailbreak still with jailbreakme.com, but should have done a full restore when done. Now I cant jailbreak via jailbreakme.com, nor can I restore to 4.0.1 in itunes.

I'm not going to be able to jailbreak, am I?

Not the worst thing that could happen, I am not in any need, but it would be nice to have it again.....

PS: Newbie taunts and insults are required in each response:D

I dont get it, you saved your shsh's thru cydia but you cant restore to 4.0.1 you said? What firmware are you on now?
Did you edit your hosts file to redirect to cydias server for the itunes check?

On 4.0.1, saved shsh's, and no, haven't edited my hosts file to redirect to cydias server.

My google is not broken, I will research that now, Thanks so much Applejuiced.

But when I upgraded to 4.0.1, I upgraded, rather than restoring to 4.0.1.
Jailbreakme.com will not run, it will download, but then it crashes safari once download is done. I've tried to clear cookies, cache, turning on airplane mode, but it always crashes once download is completed.

I guess I did not give the whole story, sorry, but I think this is why I need to restore to 4.0.1 or 4.0, then try to jailbreak......

Thanks for the help though.....

It works with 4.0.1 it doesnt matter if you restored or upgraded.
You just gotta fight with it to get it to work on that site.
Try a hard reset or download the pdf file with the exploit and email it to your iphone.

Just noticed when I rebooted my phone, that the two lines of multicolored pixels nearing the top of the screen are there nearing the end of the boot process, as if it is still jailbroken.

Would that cause a problem?

And I'll try to find that PDF to send to my phone.

Thanks

It sounds like you have an incomplete jailbreak which is preventing the Star jailbreak from running again. You should just restore to 4.0 or 4.0.1 using your saved SHSH. You will then be able to jailbreak without issue.

I mistakenly blew by the confirmation and upgraded to 4.0.2, after having successfully jailbroken while running 4.0.1. I then reverted back to 4.0.1 but have not been able to re-jailbreak. Safari hangs at the purple screen right after sliding to jailbreak at jailbreakme.com. Have tried it dozens of times, tried the alternate site, cleared cache/restarted/reset network all kinds of tips I found. Always hangs on the purple screen.

Why no second jailbreak?

Did you find the PDF to try and email to yourself?

here's the direct link to it for iphone 4, 4.0.1

Also,
thanks for all the help friends, keep up the kind, helpful attitude :D

The PDF for your specific device and firmware revision exploits the actual code necessary to jailbreak your device.

When you visit jailbreakme.com in your browser, all it does (in a really freaking cool way, I saw some of the early detection code) was to determine your iPhone/iPad/iPod device and send the appropriate PDF exploit.

Right.. .It's like visiting the jailbreakme page and activating the slider, just by opening the PDF.
