Can't read empty dvd +R disc's

Hi everyone,

Is anyone familiar with this problem, that the build-in superdrive can't read empty dvd +R disc's ?

I have a movie made in iMovie and want to burn it on to a dvd +R disc.
But so far i have try disc's from 2 dutch brands but they are both rejected.

We have a iMac (early 2009) with OS X 10.8.4 installed.

anyone has any ideas?
