I am attempting to install an earlier version of a Prolific USB serial driver. The installer checks disks and then throws an error saying a newer version is installed...although it isn't.

I removed the kext from System/Library/Extensions and it no longer shows there. I checked /Library/Receipts and saw no Prolific .pkg, and I checked the InstallHistory.plist; it had entries for both new versions of the driver and I deleted those entries. I checked ~/Library for any relevant files and didn't see anything. The Prolific kext doesn't show up when I run a list in Apple System Profiler. I've obviously restarted several times.

Any suggestions?
