Hi, despite having gotten a new iPhone on every launch day since 2007 I can't remember if unlocked/no carrier phones are available on launch day? When the 6 is launched I'd love to go unlocked because I'm so sick of the various carriers and their overpriced plans, and also want the ability immediately to travel internationally and use various SIMs while abroad. Can anyone remember if unlocked phones were available for iPhone 5S on launch day? Thanks!

just get one off verizon they're unlocked from day one

You could just tell them you want a "device only." I've seen it work successfully the past few launch days.

But I'd still have to sign a 2-year contract. And, isn't it still true that the Verizon iPhones aren't capable of simultaneous voice and data?

I read those threads but all had pretty dated information.

Verizon iPhones can do both voice and data, they just have to use a network capable of providing it. I'm using my VZW 5s on Straight Talk (ATT Sim) and I get the simultaneous voice/data functionality just fine.

yep,go to verizon i highly doubt they would be selling it with contracts only/upgrading customers.if not you could always go on craigslist but expect to pay a bit for it..
