I just upgraded to Sierra and now my VPN will not work. I want to remove it but it keeps telling me that it is open. I have open Activity monitor and tried to Quit / Force Quit and it will NOT close. I tried from a terminal window kill and the Process ID but the Icon is still showing in the menu bar.

My other issue is I connect to a Share and before I upgraded it would just connect. Now every time I reboot I am prompted for a username/password.

Hold down the shift key at startup to boot to safe mode. That will stop the VPN software from launching then you should be able to remove it. Reboot after.
