Cant rename home directory account.

I am in HD/users/ and trying to rename the home directory but it wont let me. Any ideas?

Doing it because im changing it in the user preferences, advanced preferences but it has to point to the same home directory name obviously.

You should not change it while logged in. Do it from another (temporary) user account. You can find more information at Apple Support: https://support.apple.com/HT201548.
