I have some sort of issue with XP refusing to boot on my MacBook Pro. After the initial grey startup screen the monitor goes blank, a cursor appears but the boot does not progress.

On a native Windows machine I would attempt a repair-install to address what ever issue is preventing the boot, but with BootCamp (version 1.3) I have not been able to get this far.

For starters I've long since misplaced the original XP CD, so I tried to 'acquire' a replacement (hey, its a legit install after all). Unfortunately the Macbook accepts few of the CD's as bootable, and the ones it does accept something strange happens. It loads the windows installer fine, but then when it gets to the options screen (enter to install, r for recovery console, F3 to quit) the keyboard stops responding an I'm unable to select any options.

Can anyone offer advice? I'm a bit stuck on how to continue.

Many thanks.
