I updated my phone to iOS 17 and my watch to watch os10. I restored my phone back to iOS 16.5 because the battery is horrible on iOS 17 beta. When I try to pair my watch to my phone again it says my phone needs to be updated, but it’s already on the most recent version of 16.5. Anyone else have y\this issue and know a solution?

You cannot pair anymore the watch running iOS 17 but phone iOS 16.5. Your phone must be on the same iOS version.
Only solution restore back iOS 17 on phone or send the watch to apple for downgrade. You cannot downgrade the watch by yourself.

Yup, that’s how it is…

Apple added the ability to restore watchOS using your iPhone last year in iOS 15.4 / watchOS 8.5. I'm not sure if this method allows downgrades though, but it's worth a shot.

EDIT: I'm thinking the watch may need to be in an error/problematic state in order for this to work. So probably wouldn't work in this situation since the watch is working.
