having got my new iPad air 2, I now can't restore my old iPad 2 to factory settings.
Well I can but will also install the latest IOS onto it which I don't want, its staying in family so will have to delete everything myself.
If you do a factory reset on an ipad its not going to take off any ios updates. Not sure you can do that. but doing a factory reset will effectively clean the ipad of anything you had on it.
I am not trying to take off any updates as it is on 7.1.2 but I don't want to install the latest update on to which is what it says it will do if I do a restore.
Are you doing that thru itunes? Ive never erased any of my ipad by hooking it up to itunes. You can go into settings in the ipad itself and erase and revert to factory settings. It should not try to update doing it this way. Instructions in link below.
