my iPhone 4 has been stuck on the Apple Boot up screen all day, it is on 4.0.1, when I enter it into recovery mode and select the firmware to restore back to, I get an error "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3194)

my SHSHs were saved and backed up to 4.0, 4.0.1

any ideas??

You gotta make sure to get it in DFU mode.

Assuming you followed the directions right and changed the hosts file, it should restore the firmware and then reboot. After that, it will give you a random error number. You click the "Kick Device out of Recovery" in tinyumbrella and you are good to go.

I had to restore mine, and while it wasn't this specific error number, clicking that button fixed it.

what are the exact directions?? I need to use TinyUmbrella??

With my previous iPhones I just went to iTunes, enter in DFU Mode, then select my firmware then it starts to restore

After its done restoring it automaticly goes into recovery mode.
You need to kick it out right after by using recboot or tinyumbrella by pressing "kick device out of recovery"
