I have a jailbroken, iphone 3g. Done with pwnage tool(edit: I actually think i did it with spirit or redsnow). The firmware is 3.1.3. The iphone is working. I would like to restore to 3.1.3, or roll back to the original date it was jailbroken

When I try to restore to stock 3.1.3, i get the error message in itunes.
the software required for communicating with the iphone is not installed correctly. please reinstall itunes to install the iphone software.

I have reinstalled to the latest version of itunes.(just moved the itunes app to the trash on a mac. and downloaded the latest version)

Ive resprung, and hard rebooted the iphone. Ive rebooted the mac. With no luck.

Any suggestions?

Nobody? Is this a super noob question, or a problem nobody has run into?

Im guessing a problem nobody has run into, or else some body would have replied google.

I can update the firmware though. I started it then canceled. I am wondering if i should go through with that, then try to downgrade?

Anybody? I could use some help?

Or any other workarounds. I plan i re jailbreaking and unlocking. Maybe using blacksnow or reusing redsnow?
