Can't Restore iPhone to Stock IPSW

Hi guys, I tried to restore/upgrade a just recently replaced iPhone to the stock IPSW 4.3.1, but the restore on the iPhone stops about halfway through while iTunes shows its 99% complete. I tried to delete the gs.apple.com host file from etc/hosts and hosts.umbrella, but it still won't fully restore. Any help?

Go to terminal and comment out the /etc/hosts/ file

Hmm, have you tried a DFU restore?
