First of, please let me tell you that I'm not a computer wizz, so I'm going to tell you what happened as best I can.

I had a friend of my boyfriend at the time jailbreak my iPhone for me. I didn't even know what jailbreaking was, I don't know how he did it. I know that it used Winterboard and Cydia though if that helps. I've now left that boyfriend on bad terms and can't speak to the person about my iphone.

I only just got a computer this week as I was using my boyfriend's. I downloaded iTunes and it came up with an update for my iPhone, which I downloaded because I didn't know I wasn't meant to. It came up saying it couldn't update and then told me my iPhone was in recovery mode and that I'd need to restore it before I could use it. I restored it, backing it up (because it didn't know I wasn't meant to) and it told me half way that there was an error and it couldn't install. I Googled my problem and realised you can't update jailbroken phones through iTunes.

I then looked up how to fix it and found this http://www.theiphoneblog.com/2008/10/09/how-to-problems-with-your-iphone-restore/ I did exactly as it says until it gives you the option to back it up, because that's not coming up in my iTunes anymore. I THINK that because I backed it up I've stuffed it up for good because it still won't restore.

Can anyone help?
