Can't save game on SNES HD?

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I loaded up the rom, play the game, double tap the screen, and no matter how many times I click on save state or save state to new file, it wouldn't do it. I will quit the game and go back out to the main menu and my save states would always be blank. Any help would be appreciated.
