So you know how spotlight is everywhere on the iPhone now including in the messages app. Well, if you've been carrying on a conversation for a long time you get the little click here button at the top of a conversation thread that says "show previous messages". Messages only shows you the 50 most recent messages in a thread, though you can reveal more by continually clicking that button.

Well, search ignores anything but the previous 50. No matter how many times you click that button to show previous you still have to go back to the conversation list to get to the search bar and searching from there only searches the messages that are shown by default. This means it only looks at the most recent 50 for each conversation. Seems kind of useless for me. Anyone else?

To test this, put something weird in there, (you can message yourself) like 'quijibo'. Send yourself 49 more message so that you can still scroll up and see quijibo. Search for it, it shows up in search. Send yourself one more message so that quijibo is the first thing behind the click here to show older messages button. Try your search again. No results.
