Can't search for messages with signature problems

I'm running OS 10.5.6. I have received emails from different people within an organization whose signatures seem to be giving Mail some problems. It says Mail is unable to verify the authenticity of the certificate. The issue I'm having is that it seems that these messages are not indexed and cannot be searched for in the search bar. I've told Mail to trust the certificate, but I still can't search for them. Are there any ways to fix this?
