Cant see CD player

I cant get my mac G4 800FW mirror door to see my Internal Cd Burner/DVD player.
Recently someone helped me to shift Hd from an older G4 into this one and it already had a CD player ion it, but I cant get it to recognise it.
Im running X 10.4
How do I check, the cable is in place and get my mac to instal?

Have you checked the jumper settings on the drive to see if it is set correctly. As well as on the HD?
