Hi, hoping someone can pls help suggest a fix...Got a case of disappearing folders.

I have a 4 year old MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.5.

I have some files and folders on an external hard drive.

The external Hard Drive has the file system : Windows NT Filesystem (Tuxera NTFS)

When I take that HD and connect to my iMac ( High Sierra 10.13.1 ) SOME of the folders (and files contained within ) are visible and can be read on the iMac - and the OTHER folders (and files contained within) are just invisible - its like they just vanished!? Gone...

If I take that same HD and plug it back into the old MacBook, no problem - the missing folders (and files contained within) just re appear and can be read & written to no problem.

Just to complicate things a little...the missing folders & files, the invisible ones...were themselves created and copied onto the HD from the iMac (High Sierra), and when they were initially created...were visible and readable. Now they aren't.

I have no idea what's happening / what's causing this invisibility problem - grateful for any thoughts / help?

Many thanks

Try "my solution":
1. Get ANOTHER USB flashdrive.
2. On the old MacBook, format it to Mac OS extended with journaling enabled.
3. Plug the NTFS flash drive into the other USB port on the old MacBook, let it mount on the desktop (both flashdrives mounted)
4. Copy ALL the files from the NTFS drive to the new drive
5. Take the new drive to the new MacBook and read them.
6. Either erase the NTFS drive (again, to Mac OS extended) or toss it in the trash.

"That oughta do it..."
