Can't send emails with long threads

I have a problem where I can't send email from my iphone if the message I am replying to has multiple threads beneath my message. I get a "error message cannot be sent", and the email just sits in the outbox folder.

To resolve the issue I have to scroll down when I reply to a message and delete old conversations to shorten the message. Then it sends successfully...

Any ideas?
