Has anybody else experienced issues when using a manual dns? Occasionally I will get stuck on the home sharing screen until I switch back to automatic which returns things to normal. The router I have does not allow me to enter the dns and I’m trying to avoid buying a new one just to fix this issue.

It’s an older atv (gen 3 I think)

Any ideas would be great!

I would try with 8.8.8.8 (google) as DNS address in aTV settings.

If this dns works then what would be causing the other dns not to work? I’m using the dns to access US Netflix and Hulu and it seems to work after a couple of attempts of turning the dns back to auto but if the router resets then Apple TV goes to the home sharing screen and it takes several swaps from manual to auto before it randomly decides to start working with the manual dns again.

Google's DNS service is always up, that's why I suggested it.
It seems from your latter post, that you are using a DNS-configured VPN to get a US IP address.
That is a completely different story and depends on the service provider.
I would try to contact their support first.
