So I was looking through some old boxes in storage, and I found my good ol' airport extreme. It's one of the white flying saucer ones from like five or six years ago.

Anyway, I did the firmware update to get it current, but for whatever reason, when I plug in my Time Warner modem into the ethernet port (I tried both the WAN port and the LAN port), restart everything, no matter what, it just doesn't seem to give me an IP address. Time Warner said the problem was on my end and Apple said it's not under applecare so they can't help me over the phone. Anyone have any ideas? Do I have to get a new one?

What I really want to do is use it to get wireless internet for my MacBook, my Wii and my Xbox 360. If I do have to get one of the newer ones, should I get the Airport express or the airport extreme?
