Can't SSH to my jailbroken ipod touch 1g 2.2 5g77

I followed this guide to a T, and still no dice.

http://guides.macrumors.com/SSH_into_your_iPod_%28Windows%29

I get "Putty Fatal Error - Network Error: Connection Refused"

Anyone can help?

My ipod's ip address is: 169.254.222.108 and using SSH mode in Putty, port 22.

I'm out of ideas, I don't have a firewall blocking it on my computer, is there something on ipod touch maybe blocking it?

O

I made sure the itouch is FULLY on when I attempt to dial in.

someone please help me, I'm loosing my mind. I've spent the past 7 hours trying to connect via ssh, i'm about ready to chunk my ipod touch at the ground as hard as i can.

Open SSH is installed.
SB tools is installed.

I double checked, BOTH wifi and SSH are online.

I am dialing the correct STATIC ip address, changed it to 192.168.0.8

port 22

tried SSH / putty

and

winscp

user root
pass alpine

I get SAME error, network connection refused, it does not even attempt to verify the user or pass.

Open SSH and wifi ARE running.

I can surf youtube and check stocks on my ipod touch via wifi.

I can PING 192.168.0.8 and it responds. After 5 minutes (turn off time) it stops responding, so I know I'm pinging the ipod touch.

but for some gosh darn reason, I cannot use ssh.

I need to dial in via ssh so I can push over a mobileinstallation file.

any help is appreciated.

I don't know what else to try.

there is only 44mb of available memory according to sbtools, I'm wondering maybe there is not enough memory to connect over ssh?

I have NO EXTRA APPS installed, just DEFAULT 2.2 5G77 on my 1g 32gb ipod touch, jail broken TODAY (which installed cydia and installer only).

1) I don't know how to uninstall applications

2) I don't know what applications I could install even if I wanted to.

does anyone know how I can make there MORE memory than just 500 mb on the ipod 32gb touch?

Please close down this thread. I don't usually care if people are jailbreaking their iPods and iPhones to change themes or put in apps that the App Store currently does not offer. But changing the mobileinstallation file is piracy. You can put any app (Cydia, Installer, and App Store apps) on the device for free, regardless of whether it is a paid app on the App Store.

Ditto. Cydia/Installer/App store work fine without the mobileinstallation method. The only reason to need this method is to steal.
