Can't start game applications

I have a MacBook Pro 10.4 Tiger. Recently I've been having problems starting up my Civ IV Warlords game (the icon bounces in the dashboard and then stops and nothing happens, nothing opens up).

I thought it was just a game, but then I just realised the same is happening to my Sims.

What are the possibilities this could be happening? Virus? Something I downloaded? Disk space?
