Can't stop display mirroring at start up?

Ever since I went into recovery mode to repair my disk since upgrading to yosemite, my computer mirrors the login screen to my external display. Something it wasn't doing before even on yosemite. I tried resetting PRAM but that does nothing. It's especially annoying because it adapts to the screen size of the external display.

Any tips?

Also, while on login screen, when unplugging and re plugging in display, settings while revert to normal.

Just realized each time I restart my computer a new space is created! After launching mission control I had 13 desktops! Not normal!

i'm having the same problem as well along with a few other.

try this
Settings->Energy Saver->Restore defaults

but it seems like the problem come back again after a few reboot.

Double trouble

its so annoying hey! the lower res at start with the mirrored screen!

i noticed the same thing with the new screens, does it change the desktop picture for you too?

does anyone know how to fix this! :apple:

Yes it also messes with desktop pictures.

I have my wallpaper to change every 15 min randomly from an iPhoto event but now sometimes a new space will just have the default yosemite wallpaper.
