Can't sync contacts with XP

i run XP SP3 and use windows address book.
WAB file is stored in Outlook Express .

My Iphone syncs, but as of today, apparently to an earlier version?

I cant find the earlier version on my comp.
Where is Itunes getting it from?
How can i make I tunes go to the right place.

I've separately just replaced my wab because of a corruption issue.
I feel it may be linked to that as It was OK for a year prior ?

any thoughts appreciated.
