Can't sync IPhone to ITunes

I have a unlocked IPhone using T-Mobile. The Sync works fine to do contacts, photos, ringtones, etc but does not get to ITunes to sync my music. I have a check mark in my playlist. I see the bar go across and before it gets to ITunes it says it is finished and I can unplug my phone. Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong? Thanks
