Can't Take Photo

I have a 16GB iphone 5 and I currently have 11.6 GB used with 1.9GB available. However, anytime I try to take a photo it tells me there is not enough space and the photo is not saved. Has anyone ever come across a similar problem? Is there is solution?

I have experienced a similar problem with my 16 GB iPhone 4S though with far less space (not sure why 1.9 GB isn't enough for a simple photo). The only solution is to make space by deleting photos/videos/apps that you either no longer need and/or have already backed up.
