help newbie to mac and macrumors, still learning about the rules here in this forum so my apologies to all. recently got my first mac its absolutely fantastic computer however i am trying to transfer my homemade dvd videos made from pc to my mac hdd however for some reason it can't transfer, it says something like VTS ??? error 36(cant remember):confused dont know what it means please help.thanks

Error 36 means there was an interruption in copying - usually this is because of a bad drive / bad connection / or in your case, most likely crud or scratches on the DVD.

The VTS bit will be the name of the file that is failing (DVD video is stored as VTS_.VOB files )

If the damage is irreparable, there's not much that can be done about it, but both Mac the Ripper (linked above) and Handbrake will try and do as much error correction as is feasible to try and get around the bit that's failing.
