Can't type in names for faces in iPhoto 8.0.1

Okay so when it finds a face, and I try to type in a name it repeats letters and does bizarre stuff. If I try to type in dana it may say ddaananaa hit return and antother "a" may pop up. Then the entry box never goes away. Anyone else have this issue.

2x2.3GHz G5 2G 10.5.6. Some PPC incompatibility issue I didn't see in the read me?
