I don't get the design of the hood- it's just too ridiculously loose and simple to remove. I've had my AVP almost slip out of my hands several times because the hood is so weakly attached (IE, weak magnets). Adjusting it while on frequently turns into my hood being detached magnetically then reattaching.

If this is mean for ONE PERSON, why make this something so easy to remove? A snap, or anything would have been better IMO. Seems like a bad decision to me.

Just trying to understand this 😀

In hind sight, I think the industrial design team had just a bit too much influence on the Vision Pro. Not only is it too risky to handle, Apple created a logistics nightmare by making it work with a wide variety of light shields. Other companies headsets might not be as pretty, but they are very functional one size fits all designs.

I've had to fuss over Zeiss 'reader' inserts, but I've never needed inserts for my other headsets because they have diopter adjustments builtin.

I have no problems with the light seal. I handle the AVP with my right thumb and index finger grabbing the center of the VP with those digits oriented vertically. Easy as can be. Sure, once in a while the "hood" detaches and then I easily reattach it. NO BIG DEAL! If you find this issue significant enough to raise a ruckus, then perhaps the AVP isn't for you. Just food for thought. Return window is closing.

Haha funny response. I love the AVP. It's a simple observation, and you seem to over react to anything that remotely suggests anything could be different or improved. Perhaps you should check your Apple fan-person card at the door and try to be objective and not just in full defense of Apple. Just food for thought.

too many users on this forum and reddit just going out of their way to bash this product, so i understand the push back you are getting. im not saying you are trying to bash it, but you are complaining about how easy it is to remove when its more user error it seems. ive not had it detach from the unit when i put it on so i *dont* find it "ridiculously" easy to remove. it attaches magnetically, so learn how to re-jigger your method of putting it on. your post just looks like you are trying to rage bait. If you really wanted to find a solution, you could have reworded your post in a way to attract users who may be able to give you a better way to apply the unit. just my observation boss.

But getting past the hype, the hate, and everything else, and looking at the main part of this headset being attached by weak magnets just seems ridiculous. Certainly I work around it and have learned to, but an ever so light bump or touch and it becomes detached. While it's easy to just say "be more careful" or something to that effect, when you're working with the headset in a confined space, such as a airplane, riding in a bus, or while in bed, a detached hood that doesn't have a specific need to be speedily changed or removed, makes no sense.

That's all. No hate towards the product, I love it. I think constructive criticism and input is a good thing.

I kind of agree with the OP. I thought the easily detachable design was so it'd be easy to share a VP with family members or friends/colleagues, but it turns out that the VP can have only one main user and everyone else is forced to use guest mode. So then what's the point of making the light shield so easily to detach, and therefore more accident prone?

Im hoping the ease to remove/attach it (simple magnets) means it will be easier for 3rd parties to make better alternatives.

They need to go back to the drawing board with this attachment.

They have a cord which locks in place, yet this detaches if you so much as knock it. Something similar to the Watch straps where you slide I into place and it clicks would be a better approach.

Yeah I have noticed the same problem and I was told when I picked my unit up by Apple to pick it up by the aluminum front and be careful not to grab it by the hood….so I was aware and once home a few times I didn’t and the result was the same as the OP so I learned my lesson. That being said I do sometimes grab it by the back strap and that seems to be an alternative. No doubt a third party is working on an alternative.

Wondering if an at home remedy could be adding a slightly stronger magnet to your existing band that might easily solve your issue. Unless Apple discovered that stronger magnets interfered somehow with its operation. I certainly would not know as I am not technically but perhaps someone else could speak to that as far as being an issue or not.

Allegedly the next vision pro aims to have vision correction built right into the software, but that's assuming Apple continues throwing money at this.

It’s the Apple way. Blame the user and avoid responsibility for the **** design.

Yes you have to pinch the frame in a very specific way to move it around, I put my thumb on the metal frame in the nose area and my fingers grip the top of the frame. You can carry it like a handbag by the strap but with the solo loop I feel like I'm going to stretch it out too much. It feels very delicate to handle unlike every other Apple product you can kind of chuck around without much care.

Also JerryRigEverything's video proved the lenses and front glass are actually some kind of plastic (or at least have a plastic layer on top) so they are very prone to scratches. That makes me extra paranoid about where I put the thing. If it's not on my head I put the front protector on and put it back in the sealed up travel case.
