Since upgrading to the new firmware last week, everytime I try to update apps they just get stuck on "waiting" and don't actualy download the update. So then I can't use apps that are "waiting" and I can't download anything new!

I read online that holding home and power until the iPod restarts fixes it: It doesn't.

I did a backup before updating, if I restore that, will I be back on the old firmware and have my iPod actualy be usable again?

Are you able to update the apps onece they have been downloaded to iTunes and you connect your iPod to your computer?

i.e. download updated apps via iTunes>>connect iPod and update them via iTunes.

Yes but it's very awkward to do that all the time because I use a Linux laptop, so now everytime I have updates I have to go put my Windows laptop on
