Hi all,

I'm running OS 10.6.1 on a Core2Duo Macbook. I clean-installed from Leopard and then used migration assistant to get my stuff off a Time Machine backup. I'm also running Firefox 3.5.3.

Firefox just released 3.5.4 and I thought I'd upgrade. However, I can't do "Check for updates" on Firefox, and when I download the update directly and try to move the Firefox to the Application folder, it says "The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items."

I've already verified and repaired permissions to no avail. I can install or update other applications, and I am the administrator, so I don't know what the deal is. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Its because you aren't logged in as an admin

This is normal.

Updates will be pushed to you

This should explain more: Firefox Support

And although your account is an admin account, it is only an admin account when you authenticate, otherwise you are a standard user

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure. Your explanation makes sense.

OU... Is it fixed now?

I eventually just deleted Firefox and then I was able to install the newest update from the .dmg. Thanks for the help all.
