I tried upgrading my iPod touch to the 2.0 firmware but it keeps giving me an error. Now I have the spinning wheel of death and I can't even use my iPod. Help ASAP

That's bizarre. I wonder if the servers went back down.

Try force-quitting iTunes (command-option-escape) and try to open it again. How far along were you in the process?

I am using Windows, there is no command key on my keyboard.
I was at the part where it was "restoring iPod touch" and the progress bar finishes and then I get the error.

Alrighty, that's a problem. Don't do anything with iTunes right now then. Is your iPod showing the Sync in Progress screen?

No it shows the recovery mode screen, with the apple logo and the dock connector on the screen. Then when I try to restore, I get the apple logo with the spinning wheel on the screen.

I have no idea. Does anyone else have any advice? You might want to call Apple support soon if you're still stuck.

Good luck

I would hold out, its very Buggy i've restored back to 1.1.4

theres a patch shortly to be released to fix the buggs

How could I possibly "hold out" if my iPod is stuck in the boot screen? I just want to get my iPod to work again, once I am restored (somehow) I could try upgrading again, I just want to get back to normal now.

This happened to me as well, took me 3 days to fix it but with the help of others I got it.

1. Find a second computer, install iTunes if it is not installed
2. Connect iPod Touch in normal mode, Firmware 1.1.4, non-restored
3. Authorize iTunes on computer 2 using your apple ID
4. Copied paid copy of Firmware 2.0 from computer 1 to USB stick, transferred to computer 2 (necessary because despite account authorization, iTunes wanted to sell me Firmware 2.0 again!) Find this by going to C:\Documents and Settings[user profile name]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates\iPod1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw
5. Held Shift while clicking Restore in iTunes
6. Selected Firmware 2.0 file (above)
7. Wait 10 minutes, restore and installation should complete
8. Connect to computer 1.
9. Sync all your media back on and enjoy app store!

Thank you all for your quick responses. I restarted my computer literally 4 times, and apparently, 4th time is a charm. It finally worked and I am very glad. Thanks again for all of the support.
