I am using an external display and would like to use it in closed clamshell mode https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201834

But unfortunately i followed the steps and it hasn't worked// i've had some problems with my screen before but i don't know if that will effect it.

The internal monitor just stays on when i close the lid

Does anyone know how i could fix this?

Mid 2010 MacBook Pro
wired keyboard
wireless trackpad (logitech t651)

please reply soon // Joe

Your computer needs to be connected to power.

Connect the computer to the external screen, connect your mouse and keyboard and just close the lid. It should be as easy as that.

This.

The laptop has to be plugged in for it to work.
