This probably has a rather simple solution, but I can't find it. Anyway, I can't see the folders of macintosh HD in finder. When I go into the terminal, and type cd /, a long list of files comes up, however, when I use the finder I only get about half of them. Does anyone know why this may be? I'm looking for folders like usr, bin.

Cheers.

That is because most of those folders and files are hidden by default in Finder.

The average user has no need to see those folders.

If you type this command in terminal, they will show up:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
killall Finder

oh my god
i did this to look for hidden app files that might be sitting around, and when i put in
"defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE
killall Finder"

instead of hiding the originally hidden folders, it hides almost ALL of my files

i get access to the Sites folder on my user and the couple of quick-save files i store on my desktop

how do i fix it?
