Can't view my iPhone photo albums on my Macbook

Hi all,
I am a new Macbook user and I own an iPhone. My problem is that I have several photo albums on my iPhone but once I plug it in my Macbook I can only see one of the albums, the one called "Camera roll". All my other photos do not appear in the iPhoto application of my computer. Can someone help me?
