I have a Macbook Pro that just got its hard drive replaced because the one before that was damaged. Initially everything was okay but then my computer started to take a ridiculously long time to load up (a problem I had with the bad hard drive). Thankfully it did start up but I couldn't type anything except for numbers as if I had the number lock key on, which I didn't. I can type now only because my caps lock and number lock are both on. Its not a big problem at the moment but it is a little bit annoying. I am more worried about whether this is just a prelude to another hard drive system crash... Any help is greatly appreciated!

Had the exact same problem on a MacBook Pro with Leopard - a restart returned the NumLock and CapsLock keys to normal though.

I've had the CAPS and NUM keys reversed (turned on but actually off) happen a few times on restart, all since Leopard but others have had the issue before Leopard. I'd say it's a known issue that hasn't been fixed by Apple...

A restart will generally get it back to normal.
