Caption Crunch

I used caption crunch (Carrier String Addition) on my iphone 3g and would like take it off and restore it to the ATT string. When I open the application it doesnt recognize that my phone is connected. Does any one have any ideas on how I can put the carrier name back on and remove the caption crunch message?

The main reason I ask is because I am planning on getting an iphone 4 and when my friend registered his new iphone 4 the caption crunch message went onto his phone and he can't get it off either. I don't want to get an iphone 4 and have the message go onto and if I have any problems with it apple not take it back because of the message.

If i set it up as a new phone will i be able to add all of my apps to it? I know its a stupid question but i have only had the 3g so i haven't gone through this before.

Yes. The apps are registered to you, not your specific iPhone.
