Car charger question

Hi,

What impacts how fast an iPhone will charge in the car? the actual unit plugged into the cigarette lighter or the plug or both.....

The plug itself will always supply enough power. You want to look for a charger that outputs at least 5W to charge an iPhone (10W for an iPad). I'm not sure if the iPhone is capable of charging faster with a 10W charger.
