My use case is quite usual and I'm wondering why nobody (?) came out with solution. I have car with wired CarPlay. So I just want to plug the phone and drive. Now, there are a lot of "mounts", which can mount my phone in any place I need, but 1) I don't need the screen to be visible (I'd rather prefer it to be rather hidden in case I leave it in car); 2) connecting is bit of a hassle since you have to slip phone into dock, than connect the cable.

What I'd like to have is small "docking" station, connected to USB in my car.

What I'm actually waiting for is some sort of wireless CarPlay adapter. It seems to me that someone can create a device that you can install into your car that connects to the iPhone wirelessly and then converts that signal into a wired plug that you can plug into your car, so your car thinks your iPhone is plugged in, yet your iPhone thinks it is connected to a wireless CarPlay vehicle. Just like they had devices years ago that did that with car iPod adapters. I'm surprised nobody has created such a device yet.

Without knowing what type of car you have or where you want to dock it - 3D printer and head on over to thingiverse.

If you don't have a printer you can actually click on a link on the project and have it printed or find a friend or library or someone on craigslist with one.

The idea of wireless charger is interesting but even a wired one would do.
