Carbon Copy Cloner Question

Hi, question for anyone familiar with CCC. Here's what I want to do....
I bought a 4TB external HD. I want to use it to periodically make a new
CCC backup of each Mac I have - multiple laptops and desktops.

Can I just "do this" or is there some need to like, partition a drive to
make a unique backup for each unique computer and store them all on
a common HD?

It is a bit short on detail and I can only assume that each volume would be seen at boot time as a separately bootable device.
