So I like Carbon Copy Cloner. I made a backup copy tonight of Mac OS X Lion because I plan on restoring my system cleanly to Lion, then upgrading right away to Mountain Lion. Or perhaps something similar. I have a bootcamp partition so maybe I need to perform other steps.

Either way, I plan on using CCC to make a backup copy to DVD and USB Flash after I download it from the App Store. I notice now that CCC is no longer donation funded and is a retail application. There's a special going on that lowers the price from $39.99 to $29.99. It's tempting.

Before I proceed, is this still the best cloning and backup application besides the included Apple Disk Utility? If not, what is everyone using instead? Thanks!

You might want to try out SuperDuper. I never used it because CCC worked well and was free, but I know people who preferred it and spent the money even though the free CCC was available. It's also cheaper ($28.)
