Can anyone tell me what defaults to use so that I can create a nightly backup that will serve as a boot disk?

I have a 3TB NAS drive in a USB3 enclosure. 2.25GB is partitioned as Time Machine drive to back up about 1TB of data while 750GB is partitioned for the CCC as a boot disk for my Macintosh HD which is about 450GB. Thanks!

Just start CCC and select Macintosh HD on the left side and make sure everything is check marked (it should be by default). Now select your external 750GB partition as the destination on the right side. Then click schedule task and set it up like in my screenshot and save it. That't it.

You can quit CCC and the task will still run as it is triggered by a CCC background daemon that always runs.

Also look in that settings tab as there are some options you can tweak to your liking. I would run it once manually just to make everything is okay.
