Ive played with Cards finally and while its a cute app, I'm feeling this feels more like an iPhoto Feature than a standalone app. And that brings me to wonder... Where the heck is iPhoto for iOS?
When it comes to photo editing, image manipulation and social sharing then there's an amazing amount of apps available. And even Cards does a good job at filling in that need. But the reason we need iPhoto for iOS is for the tight integration into the desktop apps. Features like rating photos and Faces/Places tagging are time consuming and boring to do while sitting at your desk, but i could see how this stuff could even be considered fun if doing it on your iPad or iPhone. Do face tagging of old photos while on the bus, assign places while watching a movie on the couch, rate photos as you view them with friends. All these work better on a touch device and could sync up the metadata when you sync your iOS device.
So my hope is that Cards was just a misdirect by Apple but someday very very soon we'll get a full iPhoto App that integrates Cards and adds all the mobile functions that would benefit iOS users.
