I'll make it short... I've been in the Print Industry since 1973.. Last 25 years strictly prepress. Owned and operated service bureau for 15 years. Last 20 years have been hands on management of digital prepress and digital print companies. Last four years 100% digital print, variable data, direct marketing and direct mail end of the business.
The difference between today and when I started, we were then taught to "learn a trade - screw college".. and I did. I don't have any degrees, just lots of experience.
Laid off February 2009... (salaried - high - easy to breathe life into bottom line by dumping me)...
The industry here in Mid America is all but dead.
If you were in my shoes, what would be your first step? If ALL you have done for many years is print, where would you go? Really looking for honest opinions. I am getting more depressed by the day..
