Carmen Sandiego problem

I purchased Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego for my daughter. I installed it on our iMac which runs OS X 10.4.11. The program begins fine but mysteriously crashes in Japan just before playing a card game to get the next clue. Any clues about what I can do?
