Waiting outside the o2 shop in York this morning, at 7.30 there were three of us (store due to open at 9am). Guy from Carphone Warehouse 200m up the road came down to tell us they were opening at 8am, so would we like to go with him!
We had a bit of a laugh with him but said no thanks.
Then at 8.30am with 8 people in the queue he came back and poached 3 people from o2, taking them up to his store!
We knocked on o2's door and told them, and one of the o2 guys went sprinting up the street to try get them back! He returned empty handed and said 'sod it, we're opening now!'
Gotta hand it to the Carphone Warehouse guy - good work, and o2 lost out on 3 sales cos they opened an hour later than the store down the road. Not great business sense!
