So I’m not fully sure if this is an iOS 17 issue, iPhone 15 pro issue, CarPlay issue, or wireless CarPlay issue. I have 5G set to on and have a iPhone 15 pro max and wireless CarPlay. I was running iOS 17.1.2 now running iOS 17.2.
Most of my commute I see 5G UW in CarPlay but lately there’s times it will never switch over to UW. Twice now I’ve noticed it won’t switch to UW if I disconnect from CarPlay and re-connect within a few minutes. For example, getting gas, running in to pick up my kid from daycare, etc.
This morning I had UW until I got gas. Then no matter what I did it would not connect to UW. I tried playing YouTube tv and ran speed tests to no avail. Speed tests were in line with LTE speeds so it’s not just an icon issue. I parked at my work which is very close to a UW tower and ran some speed tests still connected to CarPlay. LTE speeds. I turned off my car and within seconds it connected to UW with speeds to match.
Anyone else seeing this issue?
Edit to add: if I toggle airplane mode while keeping Bluetooth connected UW connectivity comes back on CarPlay.
