Any advice for Apple and Google Maps getting lost and losing GPS signal and getting lost with CarPlay?

Asking on this forum bc it seems like it's a lot more active. I have a 10 year old 4Runner which I updated to a more modern aftermarket navigation system with wireless CarPlay. I live in Chicago and in the city the GPS location is always getting lost. My mother's car also was an older car updated to a more modern wireless CarPlay system and it also lost GPS signal as well. The two stereos are the Kenwood DMX1037S and Sony XAV-9500ES. The main solution I'm finding is to disconnect it and use the iPhone 15 I have without CarPlay and it retains GPS signal and I can navigate around Chicago.

It should be mostly down to where you put your phone in the vehicle, and how many buildings are blocking the signals from the satellites. CarPlay uses the gps inside your phone, not the head unit. In some of the skyscraper canyons in downtown Chicago, it’s just going to struggle. Then it relies on assisted GPS from cell towers and some WiFi access points to rough in a position, but it won’t be precise. Make sure your phone has the least radio restriction possible inside the vehicles.
