Curious if anyone elses phones warm up when they stream undownloaded music while using Carplay, I drive an f-150 seems to happen more with spotify. Happens on both my X and 7.

Thank you.

One example was this morning my work iPhone 7 hit 90 degrees on my way to work, 65 degrees outside.

Using Carplay over USB cable.

How did you measure the temperature of the device?

Yes, the device will heat up while it is being used. It is streaming cellular data constantly, as well as likely using the GPS. This is in addition to it transferring data to the CarPlay system and charging at the same time.

This is normal behavior.

I think this is probably the source of the heat.

I have noticed that my phones also get hot when using CarPlay, I just assumed it was from it being charged and using the GPS.

I have also noticed this without CarPlay, if my iPhone is being charged while using the GPS. Actually notice that it gets pretty hot just using the GPS without it being charged.

But I am not even

90°F is hardly 'hot'. There's lots of places where the day time temp is over 90° all day. 103° is hot. 106° is too hot and the screen will dim at that temperature.

I use basically maps when plugged in and I have noticed my X seems very warm when I unplug having reached destination. It isn't too bad but warmer than "normal"
